Benchmark results of Intel’s Arc Battlemage B580 GPU have begun appearing and to almost everyone’s surprise, it’s performing a lot better than was originally expected.
Thanks to a post on the Chinese tech forum, Chiphell, the B580’s performance in UL’s 3DMark Time Spy shows the card scoring an average of 15,551 points on the test. The graphics score of the card was rated at 14,719 points.
By comparison, that score makes the Arc B580 around 31% faster than the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 and between 10% and 19% faster than Intel’s last generation A770 and A750. Exciting as this sounds, though, it is important that some GPUs tend to perform better in synthetic benchmarks than others; Intel’s Arc GPUs is no stranger to this rule.
Of course, that also means that the B580’s prowess might not be as great when it comes to real-world gaming performance. Intel itself has already said that the card would only have a 10% uplift against the RTX 4060 at 1440p resolution, with the gap between the two cards running at FHD probably running lower.
Reviews of the Intel Arc B580 and B570 are expected to be out in a couple more days. At the time of writing, we still haven’t gotten word as to when the chipmaker plans on bringing them into Malaysia.
