The Nissan Kicks e-Power has officially debuted in Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024. This hybrid crossover SUV is available in three variants: VL, VLT, and the premium two-tone VLT. It combines a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating with advanced hybrid technology, positioning itself as an efficient and well-equipped urban SUV.
At the core of the Nissan Kicks e-Power is a 129 PS/280 Nm electric motor powered by a 2.06 kWh battery, supported by an 82 PS/103 Nm 1.2-litre HR12DE three-cylinder petrol engine that functions solely as a generator. The setup eliminates a mechanical connection to the wheels, focusing on electric drive efficiency. The car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and offers robust mid-range performance, covering 100-120 km/h in just 4 seconds. Fuel efficiency is rated at 21.7 km/l, delivering a range of up to 900 km with its 41-litre fuel tank.
Driving options include Normal, Sport, and Eco modes, alongside an e-Pedal Step function for single-pedal driving. A limited EV mode allows for petrol-free operation at speeds up to 40 km/h for distances of 2.5 km, ideal for short commutes or parking.
The entry-level Nissan Kicks e-Power VL variant offers extensive features, including full LED lighting, 17-inch alloys, fabric “zero gravity” seats, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features include seven airbags, forward collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking (AEB).
The VLT trim enhances comfort and safety with leather upholstery, a 360-degree around-view monitor, an intelligent rear-view mirror, and advanced driver aids such as active cruise control, blind spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. As mentioned earlier, there’s also a two-tone version of the VLT, which offers a black roof to go along with the available colourways.
Pricing starts at RM113,800 for the Nissan Kicks e-Power VL, RM121,800 for the VLT, and RM125,800 for the two-tone VLT. Buyers benefit from a five-year/100,000 km warranty and an eight-year/160,000km warranty for the hybrid components. Nissan adds that early customers can also enjoy a RM5,000 rebate and a total of 10 years/160,000km EV warranty coverage.
