Renders allegedly belonging to the Lenovo Legion Go S have leaked, giving us a glimpse of what could be the final product. Off the bat, the console certainly looks more streamlined than the brand’s original console.
If the renders are to be believed, then the Legion Go S clearly does away with the Switch-style detachable controllers, with Lenovo opting instead for the typical all-in-one ensemble, much like the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally X.
The one detail the leaked renders of the Legion Go S do not include is what CPU the gaming handheld will launch with, although it is expected to launch with the AMD Ryzen Z2G chipset, if the rumours are to be believed. Per our earlier report, AMD is believed to be launching three Ryzen Z2 variants next year: a Z2, a Z2 Extreme, and the Z2G.
The Z2G is believed to be based on the older Rembrandt architecture, which uses Zen3+ CPU cores and the RDNA2 GPU, much like the custom SoC used in the Steam Deck. While clearly not as potent as the Radeon 780M or the more recent Radeon 890M, it is, nevertheless, still capable.
Moving on, the renders also show that the Legion Go S no longer has a kickstand like its progenitor. It still retains two USB-C port but instead of one being placed at the bottom, both of them are now located at the top of the console. Also, the touchpad has seemingly disappeared, replaced instead by a smaller square cutout. More importantly and if you didn’t notice, the renders show the console in white, much like the original ROG Ally.
The only question that remains is how much the Legion Go S will cost. If Lenovo does bring it in to Malaysia and considering the specs, the brand is going to have to sell it at a lower price point than the Ally X’s RM4,299 price tag, should it hope to be relevant.
