Tesla has announced the launch of a dedicated Apple Watch app as part of its annual holiday update, set to roll out starting next week. Finally, this will allow owners to use the wearable as a digital key, as well as many other functions that were previously limited to the smartphone app.
The app enables users to unlock or lock their vehicles, open the trunk and frunk, check battery charge levels, and control in-car climate settings. Additionally, the iOS version will automatically install its WatchOS counterpart upon receiving the update, provided that you own an Apple Watch.

Tesla has not announced any plans to bring its app to non-Apple wearables. However, third-party applications are available on platforms like Wear OS (ie: DRIVE Electric for Tesla), though they typically lack the full range of features offered by the official app.
In addition to the Apple Watch app, the automaker’s holiday update also introduces other notable features. These include the ability to view and save Dashcam and Sentry Mode footage directly on the Tesla smartphone app, set custom Cybertruck wraps and license plates, and adjust a preferred battery charge level for destinations.
