The Porsche Macan Electric has officially made its debut in Malaysia, coming in as the brand‘s second fully electric model after the Taycan. Locally, it is available in four variants: the base Macan, Macan 4, Macan 4S, and Macan Turbo.
Built on the Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the Macan Electric is underpinned by a cutting-edge 100kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack. The base Macan is powered by a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup, while the Macan 4, 4S, and Turbo models feature dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) systems.
The base variant offers up to 360 PS with overboost, a peak torque of 563 Nm, a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.7 seconds, and a top speed of 220 km/h. With a range of 641 km (WLTP), it is well-suited for long-distance driving. Meanwhile, the Macan Turbo sits at the top of the range, boasting 639 PS, a staggering 1,130 Nm of torque, and an impressive 0-100 km/h time of just 3.3 seconds, along with a top speed of 260 km/h. Its range is slightly lower at 591 km.
Charging is a highlight across the lineup, thanks to the vehicle’s advanced 800V architecture. All variants support up to 270 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in just 21 minutes. For home or overnight charging, the Macan Electric offers 11 kW AC charging, allowing a full recharge in approximately 10 hours. The SUV comes equipped with two charging ports – one dedicated to DC charging and another for AC – though only one port can be used at a time.
Inside, the Macan Electric’s cabin features a 12.6-inch curved digital instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and an optional additional 10.9-inch display for the front passenger. Porsche has updated its Porsche Communication Management (PCM) software to run on Android Automotive OS, bringing enhanced voice control, a new app store, and the ability to display Apple CarPlay and Android Auto maps directly in the instrument cluster. An augmented reality head-up display is also available for added convenience.
A notable design shift compared to earlier Porsche EVs is the reintroduction of physical controls, a feature absent in the Taycan. The Macan Electric includes tactile air-conditioning toggles and a volume knob, offering a user-friendly alternative to fully digital interfaces. The centre console now provides additional storage space, made possible by the absence of a transmission tunnel. Driver ergonomics have been improved, with the seat positioned 28 mm lower to enhance the connected driving experience.
Prices for the Porsche Macan Electric in Malaysia start at RM430,000 for the base model, RM445,00 for the Macan 4, RM525,000 for the Macan 4S, and RM635,000 for the Turbo variant. According to the brand, buyers receive a 2-year warranty and maintenance package, with the option to extend the warranty up to 15 years. Additionally, the high-voltage battery is also covered by an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty.
