The full specs of the MSI Claw 8 AI+ have been fully outed, if a listing on Amazon is to be believed. On top of that, the gaming handheld also appears to have gotten a new launch date: late this December.
The Amazon listing also indicates that the handheld will retail for US$899 (~RM3,999), at least for the top-tier configuration. It’s already known that the Claw 8 AI+ was going to launch with Intel’s Lunar Lake, but the console is now being listed with two configurations: a Core Ultra 7 258V and a Core Ultra 7 256V. Both chips are using the Arc 140V integrated GPU, which also comes with eight Xe2 Cores.
Both chipsets will also come with either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM, both options being integrated directly on to the Compute Tile and is now interchangeable.
The change of launch date is, for lack of a better way of putting it, a little perplexing. Back in September when we were strolling the halls of IFA 2024, MSI had told us that we shouldn’t expect the console to ship out until late Q1 2025.
This could still ring true if we were to assume that the new alleged late December “launch” date is simply an “unveiling”. But honestly, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for it to be an unveiling, mainly because its specifications have been floating about in the ether for almost a year at this point.
