HONOR may be bringing an extremely affordable smartphone into the Malaysian market with the X5b Plus. The phone was introduced in Saudi Arabia last month and is the cheapest model in the X lineup.
The X5b Plus is likely coming here very soon given that we have spotted the entry-level phone on the SIRIM database. It was listed on 2 October 2024 with the model number GFY-LX2P. However, the vanilla model of the series has not been listed, so it is unclear if only the Plus model will be sold in Malaysia.
As for the specs, the phone sports a 6.56-inch 720p LCD display with a waterdrop cutout for the notch and a 90Hz refresh rate as well as a peak brightness of 530 nits. Pop open the hood and you will find a MediaTek Helio G36 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage, although it is worth noting that the brand could offer a different configuration here.
Optics-wise, the X5b Plus is equipped with a 50MP main camera alongside a depth sensor on the back, while the front features a 5MP selfie snapper. Powering the budget phone is a 5,200mAh battery with support for 10W charging. As for connectivity, it supports 4G, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.1, along with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for unlocking.
