Xiaomi has officially unveiled the K80 series, its flagship lineup under its Redmi sub-brand. It comes in two flavours, the vanilla and the Pro model, with both phones sporting many similarities in specs. What differentiates them is the chipset, the battery, and the camera setup.
Let’s start with the similarities, where both phones are equipped with a 6.67-inch 1440p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an HDR peak brightness of 3,200 nits, and a global peak brightness of 1,800 nits. For protection, the two models get an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, but the vanilla phone gets Corning Gorilla Glass 7i while the Pro is fitted with Longjing glass 2. Additionally, the lineup ships with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15 and feature an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner.
Under the hood, the Pro runs on the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and is powered by a 6,000mAh battery with support for 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. Imaging-wise, it carries a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 32MP ultra-wide lens, a 50MP telephoto lens with OIS and 2.5x optical zoom, and a 20MP selfie snapper. For connectivity, it supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and the new Bluetooth 6.0 standard.
On the other hand, the base K80 features last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship processor, alongside a bigger 6,550mAh battery with 90W wired charging and no wireless charging. It also gets a simpler photography setup with the same 50MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 20MP front shooter. As for connectivity, it supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.4.
The K80 has a starting price of CNY2,499 (~RM1,530) for the base trim while the Pro retails from CNY3,699 (~RM2,268). There is no word on when it might be released in other markets, but just like previous years, it is speculated to be launched globally under POCO.
