Tom Petersen, Intel Fellow, did not beat around the bush with his message regarding Battlemage: the GPU is next.
In the fourth episode of Intel’s Graphics on the Go series, Petersen’s message can be heard at the very end of the presentation. “Battlemage is next.” Unfortunately, that’s all he says on the matter.
He doesn’t even provide any useful details, such as when the GPU lineup will be launching specifically although it is already more or less confirmed that December is the company’s last chance to meet its “end of the year” deadline, or even the SKUs. The latter is likely to be disclosed behind closed doors to the relevant media.
That said, Petersen’s message also serves as a reaffirmation that Intel is still going ahead with Battlemage, thus dispelling further rumours about the chipmaker allegedly throwing its GPU endeavours to the wind. For that matter, leaks of what are reportedly the final version of the Arc B580 graphics cards have appeared online, as well as plans for its own “Limited Edition” GPU.
