Intel is seemingly on to launching its next-generation ARC Battlemage GPU lineup this year. According to a source close to ZDNet Korea, such products are expected to be released “before the end of the year, latest”.
We cannot stress that this is a very bloated rumour and at this point, Intel has yet to divulge any further details regarding the launch of its Battlemage GPU. The last time the chipmaker alluded to its existence was back in May, just before Computex 2024, when it announced Lunar Lake.
It was Tom Petersen, Fellow At Intel, during a technical briefing about Lunar Lake, who mentioned that the Xe2 Cores embedded inside the mobile CPU were the same as the one that would be used in Battlemage, in all but name.
It also doesn’t help that Intel itself has been seemingly nonchalant about the existence of its second-generation Arc lineup. Earlier this week, we reported on the GPU showing up on one of the brand’s website. One X user even found Battlemage being listed on the support page for Arc dedicated graphics.
One fact that has remained consistent is that there has been no details about the alleged lineup’s performance against other GPUs on the market. However, alleged details about the Arc B580 suggest that the card will ship out with 20 Xe2 Cores, 12GB GDDR6, and have a GPU clock of 2.8GHz.
In any case, there is still a month left in 2024’s year, so fingers crossed, we’ll see Battlemage before the year’s out.
