The MYTV Mana-Mana streaming application is now integrated into the ATLAS IHU (Infotainment Head Unit) of Proton X series vehicles, starting with the X70 SUV. Communications minister Fahmi Fadzil says this initiative, a collaboration between MYTV, Aco Tech and Proton, marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s broadcasting landscape. It enables seamless mobile access to MYTV Digital TV broadcasts via various digital devices, enhancing convenience for the public, he added.
“Just as the transition from compact discs (CDs) to digital music revolutionised the way we consume audio content, the IHU represents the next evolution, poised to replace traditional FM radio broadcasts,” Fahmi said in his speech at the launch of the application today. “As part of diversifying its broadcasting services, MYTV has made significant progress by introducing the MYTV Mana-Mana service through the IHU in Proton X series vehicles, beginning with the Proton X70.”
Fahmi highlighted earlier efforts to introduce MYTV Mana-Mana on Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad’s (KTMB) electric train service (ETS), providing business-class passengers access to MYTV Digital TV broadcasts. During the event, he also discussed plans to extend the application’s reach, including its potential use in in-flight entertainment systems, to further broaden access to digital broadcasting.
Additionally, the comms minister said that MYTV and the Commercial Radio Malaysia (CRM) association are exploring collaborations with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). This aims to integrate the app into infotainment systems for other vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs).
