Sony has announced the pricing and pre-order availability for the Alpha 1 II (A1 II) in Malaysia. As per its recent post on Facebook, booking is now open via its official online store until 15 December 2024, and those who purchase the camera in advance are also entitled to RM3,381 worth of free gifts.
To recap, the Sony Alpha 1 II (A1 II) blends features from the A7R V and A9 III for enhanced performance and usability. It retains the original’s 50.1MP stacked CMOS sensor with 15 stops of dynamic range, now paired with a Bionz XR image processor and a dedicated AI chip for superior autofocus and subject recognition.
Key improvements include a 50% boost in autofocus accuracy and 30% for humans and animals. The AI-driven subject detection removes the need to switch modes, while a pre-capture buffer saves up to 30 frames before the shutter press. Stability has been upgraded with 8.5 stops of in-body image stabilisation (IBIS), the best in Sony’s lineup.
Video capabilities are also expanded, offering 8K recording at 30 fps, 4K at 120 fps, and Full HD at 240 fps. Additional features include 10-bit 4:2:2 recording, breathing compensation, and “gimbal-like” stabilisation with a slight crop. Super 35 users benefit from 5.8K oversampling.
The A1 II’s updated design incorporates ergonomic improvements from the A9 III, featuring a 3.2-inch four-axis LCD, a 240Hz OLED viewfinder, and an enhanced menu system. It supports dual CFexpress Type A slots and advanced connectivity, including USB-C, a full-sized HDMI port, and 2.5Gbps Ethernet.
For the Malaysian market, the all-new Sony Alpha 1 II is priced at RM29,299 for body only. Those who pre-order throughout this period will also receive a 1+1 year warranty, 3-month Capture All-In-One subscription, a PGYTECH Backpack, a Sony CEA-G80T CF Express memory card, and an additional NP-FZ100 Battery while stocks last.
