GV Ride, a new local e-hailing company, has revealed that it will be introducing electric vehicle (EV) services starting next month. The company’s chief executive officer, Kabeer Maand, said that 2,500 EV units are targeted for deployment, starting in Klang Valley.
The CEO stated that the company, which began pre-operations in September and officially launched last week, is currently in negotiations with suppliers from China for the first phase of EV integration. “This is part of the company’s efforts to expand our business while promoting the adoption of EVs in the e-hailing industry,” he said. Moreover, Network EV will supply EV charging ports while the Northern E-Hailing Drivers Association (NeHDA) will serve as a support partner in the northern region.
Kabeer said that GV Ride currently has 15,000 registered drivers with an aim to get up to 50,000 by the end of the year. He also claims that the platform charges the lowest driver commission at just 9% per booking.
Similar to InDrive, the app allows users to negotiate fares with drivers, but the payment method is not limited to cash as GV Ride also supports DuitNow, Boost, and TnG eWallet. To celebrate its launch, the company is offering one million free rides for fares RM15 and below, however, we’ve been told by customer service that the free promo will be given out randomly to new users.
