When you think of a smart ring, these days you’d probably think of something like the Samsung Galaxy Ring, or some other fitness tracker of that form factor. But Casio has gone in another direction with the CRW-001-1JR, which is just a tiny watch you wear on your finger rather than wrist.
Despite its diminutive size – the screen measures barely an inch – Casio managed to fit the ring watch with three buttons that controls different features beyond the time being displayed on the screen. This includes showing the date or time in one other time zone, or a stopwatch, almost like a full-sized wristwatch by the brand.
Also like its full-sized brethren, the company has given the finger watch a light, as well as an alarm. Though rather than playing a sound, the latter will flash the screen instead. It also has a replaceable battery that twill last about two years, with the watch itself being waterproof.
Unlike the wristwatch though, the ring only comes in a single size of 20mm. No luck for those with larger fingers, but for those with more slender digits, there are spacers to reduce the inner diameter to 19mm and 18mm.
The Casio CRW-001-1JR will be released sometime in December, and for a price of JPY 19,800 (~RM571). As it is currenly only listed in its Japanese website, it’s unclear if it will be available elsewhere.
