Earlier in the month, we saw reports claiming that Samsung has plans to beat Apple to the punch in adding a new Slim variant to their respective phone lineup. At the time though, it was claimed that the new variant will be launching separately from the main Galaxy S25 lineup, which consists of the usual base, Plus and Ultra models.
More recently, a report from a Korean site claims that not only will the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim be debuting alongside its siblings, but also that there’s a date for the launch. FN News reports that the first Galaxy Unpacked of 2025 may be happening on 23 January, and in San Francisco, California. The report cites sources who say that the location is “a strong candidate”, but it’s unclear if the indefinite phrasing here is deliberate, or the result of machine translation.
Beyond that though, the report doesn’t provide a lot more information on the supposed Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim, beyond the fact that it would be thinner than the base model. For context, the base model S24 measured in at 7.6mm. The report does mention the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, which launched months after the Galaxy S5, with the former also being thinner than the latter.
Worth mentioning at this point though is that the report also says that the Samsung Galaxy S25 family is more likely to showcase software upgrades rather than hardware. Part of this is due to the company’s plan to release its One UI 7 with Android 15 alongside the new flagships.
