Earlier in the year, gaming peripheral brand Razer announced its USB Dock, offering 11 ports in a single CNC aluminium block. There’s a new one on the block, if you’d pardon the pun, and it’s known simply as the Razer USB Dock 4.
The number 4 is important because new to this refresh is support for the USB 4 standard, which allows for transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps. There’s also an increase to the overall number of ports available on the dock, now at 14. Among them include USB ports of both A and C varieties, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and a slot each for SD and microSD cards. One of the USB-C ports also supports up to 100 W PD.
The USB-C ports also support DisplayPort output, and with the existing HDMI and DisplayPort, you can have up to two 4K displays connected to the Razer USB Dock 4. That being said, one of them will be limited to 60Hz of refresh rate, while the other is free to go up to 120Hz.
As with many of the brand’s recent peripherals, the Razer USB Dock 4 comes in black and white, and is priced at US$229.99 (~RM1,030). A company rep says that it won’t be available via local resellers just yet, and that more details on local availability will be shared at a later date.
That being said, the brand’s official online store does list the item with a price of RM1,000. Which seems too perfect to not be a placeholder, but at the same time sounds about right with the currency exchange rate at the time of writing.
