Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A16 5G, its latest entry-level smartphone, for the Malaysian market. As you may recall, the phone debuted for select markets in October and was already listed on the brand’s official local website earlier this month.
Starting today, those interested are able to purchase the new Galaxy A16 5G directly via Samsung Malaysia’s online store, while it has yet to be listed on its official Shopeee and Lazada pages. The phone is confirmed to be priced at RM899, arriving with free gifts (while stocks last) including a first-party 25W fast charger and 128GB SD Card, as well as one year extended warranty.
To recap, the Galaxy A16 5G showcases Samsung’s current Galaxy A design language, featuring a vertically aligned triple-camera setup on its back. The volume rocker and fingerprint sensor, integrated with the lock button, are positioned on a slightly raised section of the frame. As an entry-level model, the phone utilises a waterdrop notch to house its front-facing camera. It is available in three colourways: Light Green, Blue Black, and Gold.
The device boasts a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2340 px resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and 800 nits of brightness. Additional features include IP54 water and dust resistance, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and a loudspeaker. It runs Android 14 via One UI 6.1 and comes with an impressive software support promise of six generations of OS updates and six years of security patches.
Powering the Galaxy A16 5G is an unspecified octa-core chipset, likely the Exynos 1330 or MediaTek Dimensity 6300, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, expandable via microSD. It packs a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging. The triple-camera system includes a 50MP main sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro, while the front-facing camera features a 13MP sensor.
