There has been some talk about the Apple smart home display, as well as its supposedly budget-friendly counterpart. More information on the latter has come forth, courtesy of a Bloomberg report by Mark Gurman. This time, the claim is that this more affordable model can be wall-mounted.
According to the report, this budget Apple smart home display will come with a thick edge around the display, which is reiterated to be a six-inch square, or about the size of two iPhones. It will come with a camera for its FaceTime applications, as well as sensors to detect the number of people nearby it, and their distance to itself. This then determines what is being displayed on screen. All this is handled by its new operating system code-named Pebble.
Also installed in this Apple smart home display are internal speakers, as well as a built-in rechargeable battery. While this probably means a better piece of furniture visually, it does also mean it will need to be dismounted to be recharged. This is probably done via bases with additional speakers, with one previously claimed to make the setup look like an iMac G4.
Finally, the report also narrows down its release window. Previously, the Apple smart home display only had a 2025 release window. Now though, it is thought to be getting an announcement by March of next year. The report also notes that it will be priced closer to its competitors which range between US$150 (~RM667) and US$230 (~RM1,022).
