You may have seen these in markets beyond our shores, but Samsung has finally brought its 990 EVO Plus SSDs to ours. This M.2 2280 drive is available in three capacities, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB, all featuring the brand’s 8th-gen V-NAND tech and a 5nm controller.
While pretty comparable, there are slight read and write speed differences between the three. For sequential read speeds, the 1TB model of Samsung 990 EVO Plus is rated at 7,150 MB/s, while the remaining two are rated at 7,250 MB/s. All three share a sequential write speed of 6,300 MB/s.
As for random read and write speeds, the 1TB and 2TB models are rated at 850K IOPS / 1,350K IOPS and 1,000K IOPS / 1,350K IOPS respectively, while the 4TB capacity model is rated at 1,050K IOPS / 1,400K IOPS instead. It also has a lifespan of 600TB TBW per terabyte, and all three share a five-year limited warranty.
The Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSDs are priced at RM519, RM879 and RM1,599 for the 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities respectively. It is available via retail stores, as well as the brand’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee. That being said, at the time of writing the former has yet to include the listing, while the latter shows different price tags for the available options.
