Last month saw the wider rollout of Google Gemini Live on Android, including users in Malaysia. Now recently, we may be seeing signs of this rolling out to iOS users as well, with the Google Gemini standalone app being spotted in the iOS Apple App Store, granting direct access to Gemini Live.
Reddit user u/lostshenanigans shared on the platform screenshots of the app in action, though most of the immediate comments in the thread are of other users being unable to find it on the Apple App Store. With a direct link provided, most replies to said link indicate a common error message which reads ” This app is currently not available in your country or region”.
The original poster noted that they are in the Philippines, while also saying that another user got to see it in the App Store once they changed their location to the Philippines. This points to a gradual rollout by region, so we tried looking for the app ourselves, and got the same error message mentioned above.
At the time of writing, Google has not said anything about the rollout of Gemini Live since its initial rollout announcement in September. This likely means that the regionally limited rollout on iOS is part of the same process, and it may not be that long before we get access locally.
