Chinese EV maker BYD is bringing in another of its EVs named after marine animals into the local market, this next one being the Sealion 7. According to a blog post by local distributor Sime Darby Motors, the electric car will be launching next week, or more specifically on 14 November.
The post also comes with a limited number of items from the BYD Sealion 7 spec sheet. This includes a maximum power rating of 390 kW, which translates to about 530 PS, as well as a NEDC range of 542 km. Also here is an acceleration rating of 4.5 seconds, which likely translate to a century speed time.
Being an incomplete spec sheet, it remains to be seen if there will only be one variant making its way to our shores. According to paultan.org, the listed specs point to a two-motor AWD variant of the BYD Sealion 7, of which there are two battery capacities depending on market. There’s the 82.56 kWh with 150 kW DC charging in Hong Kong, and 91.3 kWh with 230 kW DC charging in Europe.
In the same vein, there is also a single-motor RWD model that sports 313 PS, a century sprint time of 6.7 seconds, and a NEDC range of 567 km. For now, it’s unclear if this variant will be available locally, but we’ll find out for sure next week.
