The Samsung Galaxy Ring was properly unveiled alongside this year’s batch of foldables, and it ultimately did not make an official appearance in the local market. Though it looks like a sequel is on the way, with a claim that it will be launched “a bit earlier than originally scheduled”, per machine translation.
This leak comes from the South Korean Naver blog, which also claims that it will see additional improvements. The list include being thinner, while also sporting a longer battery life. There is also the mention of more features coming to the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2, but no specifics on that front.
All that being said, with the way the first Samsung Galaxy Ring was unveiled, that bit about launching earlier than scheduled leaves a lot of room for interpretation. After all, while it may have been launched in July, it did make an official appearance earlier in the year. Even with an annual release schedule, it’s unclear which of these two appearances to consider the start of the cycle.
Beyond the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2, the blog post also makes mention of Apple’s intention to release its won “ring-type wearable”, alongside “band-type and smart glass-type wearable devices”. No details on either of these, but while the last one on the list has been mentioned a lot, analysts have predicted last month that the bitten fruit brand will have its own smart ring by 2026.
