JD.com, a major Chinese e-commerce site, has announced an expansion of its platform to Malaysia and Thailand. This allows customers from both countries to purchase products on its website, which are shipped from China.
Moreover, the e-commerce giant is offering free shipping for Malaysian customers just in time for the Single’s Day 11.11 sales. You can get free shipping on orders over CNY399 (~RM245) with coverage for up to 6kg by sea and 2kg by air. However, this offer only applies to self-operated (1P) products ordered through the JD.com mobile app.
This expansion follows its online supermarket’s agreement with Malaysian durian companies back in July, which allowed Malaysian durians to be exported to China through its platform. Earlier this year, the company also expanded its free shipping programme to customers in the US, Japan, and Singapore.
Both the JD.com website and app are currently only available in Chinese. The platform did introduce an English beta back in 2012, but that part of the website seems to be offline now. Coincidentally, another Chinese e-commerce company, Taobao, recently introduced an English version of its app and website in Malaysia and a few other countries.
