It is both AMD’s open and worst kept secret that it plans on launching a 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU, just like it did with the 7950X3D last year. On that note, a Gigabyte press release seems to have fingered said 3D V-Cache CPU.
GIGABYTE X3D Turbo Mode is a cutting-edge feature that unifies cores distribution, bandwidth tuning, and hardware power balancing, resulting in pushing the boundaries of gaming performance. Empirical testing demonstrates that this feature delivers tangible benefits to gamers, with performance increases of up to 18% for incoming Ryzen 9000 series 16-core X3D processors, an astounding 18% for Ryzen 9000 non-X3D processors, and 5% for Ryzen™ 9800 X3D processors.
It is important to note that the X3D Turbo Mode isn’t mutually exclusive to Gigabyte’s own products. The feature is part of the new AGESA firmware and basically allows users to disable one CCD and Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT). This effectively reduces the number of active cores but will enhance gaming performance, which seems redundant, given how powerful the X3D SKUs already are in that segment.
The AMD Ryzen 9800X3D is already set for a 7 November launch, while the 16-core 9950X3D and 12-core 9900X3D are both expected to launch during CES 2025, which kicks of in January next year.
