AMD recently announced the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, thus confirming the CPU’s existence and putting to rest all the rumours surrounding it. The CPU is the latest addition to the chipmaker’s Ryzen 9000 Series launched earlier this year.
Specs-wise, The 9800X3D follows the same 8-cores, 16-threads configuration as its X3D predecessors, featuring a base and boost clock of 4.7GHz and 5.2GHz. With 3D V-Cache, the CPU has an L3 Cache of 104MB, more than triple the L3 Cache of the 9700X. It also has a 120W TDP.
The 9800X3D sets itself apart from previous generation X3D processors by being the first of its kind to have the 3D V-Cache reseated below the processor, meaning that the chiplet or CCD now sits on top of everything else, allowing for better cooling to the Zen5 Cores. The parting piece of this CPU, however, is that the second generation 3D V-Cache attached to it has been re-engineered, making it the first X3D that is fully unlocked and overclockable. Performance-wise, AMD says the CPU is supposed to be around 8% faster than the 7800X3D and up to 20% faster than Intel’s latest Core Ultra 9 285K.
The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be available later this week, and will retail at an SRP of US$479 (~RM2,089).
