vivo recently unveiled a new Y-series smartphone called the Y19s, which is the successor to last year’s Y17s. While the company has yet to announce the Malaysian release of the phone, we knew it was coming here soon as it has already been listed on SIRIM, but ahead of an official launch, a local retailer has revealed the prices and configurations of the upcoming device.
According to MMG Distribution, which actually operates vivo’s store in Kluang, the Y19s will retail at a starting price of RM499 for the base 6GB+128GB configuration, while the 8GB+256GB model will go for RM599. The entry-level smartphone will be offered in black, blue, and silver colour options.
The Y19s comes with many significant improvements compared to its predecessor, notably in the display and battery departments, as well as the addition of an LED ring light on the back and the replacement of the teardrop notch with a more modern-looking punch-hole cutout. It gets a 6.68-inch 720p screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,000 nits, along with an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance.
For photography, it comes with a 50MP main camera, a depth sensor, and a 5MP front shooter. The phone is backed by a larger 5,500mAh battery with support for 15W charging. Under the hood, it runs on a Unisoc Tiger T612 chipset and supports 4G, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.2.
