Back in August, Microsoft announced that Insiders will be able to get access to its controversial Recall feature in October, with no date as to when will be the general public’s turn. It looks like even its beta rollout is being hit with another delay. In an update to the previous blog post, the company now says that Insiders will only be getting access to it in December.
The reason provided for this additional delay to Microsoft Recall is so that the company can deliver “a secure and trusted experience” with the feature. No details on what it entails, but one can only imagine that previous efforts in addressing the security issues that made it controversial in the first place isn’t going as smoothly as the company has planned.
Speaking of which, Microsoft did previously provide details on what the company is doing with Recall to make it a more secure feature. Part of this is making it so that retrieving data will always require a Windows Hello authentication. The company also said that the feature will be better at filtering sensitive info like passwords and credit card info from its snapshots.
Also announced at the time was the fact that Microsoft Recall will be an opt-in feature that can be removed entirely by uninstalling it. That being the case, it remain to be seen when will the general user base even get the chance to do so, considering its delay to beta testers.
