HONOR has officially unveiled its new flagship series called the Magic7. Made up of two models, it succeeds last year’s Magic6 series and brings many notable improvements, along with the new top-of-the-line chipset from Qualcomm.
The two new smartphones are nearly identical, with the only main differences being in the screen size, battery capacity, and camera setup. For starters, the vanilla Magic7 gets a 6.78-inch 1.2K LTPO OLED display with a 1Hz-120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 5,000 nits for HDR, and a global peak brightness of 1,600 nits, with the Pro sporting the same display with a nominally bigger size of 6.8 inches. Under the hood, both models run on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset while the chassis comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
On the optics side, the Magic7 Pro gets the same 50MP 1/1.3” main camera with a variable aperture and OIS, as well as a 50MP ultra-wide lens, but it gets a markedly upgraded 200MP telephoto lens with a bigger 1/1.4” sensor which supports 2.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. The rear camera island also gets a laser focus sensor and a colour temperature sensor.
The vanilla model gets a more modest 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical and 50x digital zoom, but aside from that, its setup is the same as the Pro. Up front, both phones carry a 50MP selfie shooter, but only the Pro gets a pill-shaped cutout that also contains a 3D IR blaster for a more secure facial unlocking.
Speaking of unlocking, the new series brings back the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which was introduced in the Magic4 but was absent in following lineups. Powering the Magic7 and Magic7 Pro are 5,650mAh and 5,850mAh batteries respectively, along with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. As for connectivity, both phones support 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC.
The Magic7 will retail with a starting price of CNY4,500 (~RM2,760) for the base trim while its Pro equivalent starts from CNY5,700 (~RM3,450). For now, the company has not yet disclosed any details on when it plans to bring the lineup to Malaysia.
