WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called Lists, to help you organise your chats further. Earlier this year, the messaging app released chat filters, which let you sort out your messages, but it was automated and limited to unread and group chats.
The new tool is essentially the same as Telegram’s Chat Folders feature that has been around for years. It allows users to make customer categories and add whichever chat they wish, whether it is an individual or a group. For example, you could make a filter called “Best Friends” so that only messages from close friends will be visible in this category, or you could even make work and family filters.
To create and edit Lists, you just need to tap on the new “+” button in the filter bar at the top of your Chats tap, or even long-press a custom category to edit it. According to WhatsApp, the feature is rolling out starting today and will be available to all users globally in the coming weeks.
Other new features recently released by the platform include the ability to store new contacts on the app itself instead of your phone, as well as the ability to manage contacts even from linked devices. Additionally, it has rolled out Status Likes and Private Mentions.
