The works ministry has announced toll exemptions for private vehicles in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali holiday, scheduled to take place from 12:01am on 29 October until 11:59pm on 30 October 2024. This exemption, applicable to all Class 1 private vehicles, will be available at toll plazas across Malaysian highways, with the exception of Sultan Iskandar Building on the North-South Expressway and Tanjung Kupang on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link.
According to the official statement by the works ministry, this initiative is expected to cost the government RM38 million. The expenditure will be managed by compensating toll concessionaires throughout the aforementioned period.

In preparation for the toll-free period, works minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi advised road users to adhere to travel schedules and time advisories provided by highway concessionaires. He also reminded them to ensure their vehicles are in good condition and to check that their e-wallets and Touch ‘n Go cards have sufficient balance.
Additionally, road users can contact the Highway Traffic Management Centre at 1-800-88-7752 for traffic updates or assistance, as well as visit the Malaysian Highway Authority’s (LLM) official social media accounts for real-time traffic information. Alexander also urged all motorists to follow traffic rules and take necessary precautions during their journeys.
