The government plans to expand MyDigital ID across all of its platforms, digital minister Gobind Singh Deo revealed during the weekend. He highlighted the move as a step towards streamlining government services, aiming to simplify access for Malaysians with a single sign-on feature.
Gobind also said the government is planning to introduce measures to boost public confidence in MyDigital ID by the first quarter of 2025 In an effort to build trust in the system. He acknowledged that the development of the app is ongoing and must adapt to evolving technology. The digital minister also expressed confidence that earlier challenges can be addressed with advancements in technology, ensuring that the system remains robust and up to date.
Currently, MyDigital ID is already operational with several government applications, including MySejahtera, the MyGov portal, and Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS) Mobile. The Road Transport Department (JPJ) also initially planned to include the requirement of using MyDigital ID for its mobile app earlier this month, but the move was postponed by transport minister Anthony Loke due to technical difficulties experienced by numerous users.
Gobind’s announcement follows Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s statement regarding MyDigital ID during his Budget 2025 presentation on 18 October. It was revealed that the platform will serve as a one-stop, centralised hub for all government agencies, including JPJ, LHDN and PADU.
