With iOS 18 still maturing, Apple is continuing to move forward with its plans for future software on iOS. Specifically, recent rumours suggest that the fruit company is working on developing a new gaming hub, tailored for iOS.
Details for the plans of an iOS hub was first reported by 9to5Mac, whose sources claimed that the alleged app will combine functionality from both the App Store and Game Centre, into a new and somewhat independent app.
For the record, Apple already has the self-named Apple Arcade, which is a subscription-based service that gives paying customers access to a sizable library of games, which can be played on the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
That said, then hub won’t replace the Game Centre but will support multiple tabs, chief among them being a “Play Now” tab. IN that tab, users will supposedly be able to find editorial content and game suggestions, along with other things such as challenges, leaderboards, and achievements.
On paper, the functionality of the iOS gaming hub should work in a manner similar to the Xbox app on iPhone. Basically, it should allow players to glean off the usual information, such player status, activities from friends, plus the ability to search for new game and even browse through their library, however big or small they are.
That’s all the information on the alleged gaming hub. At this point, it is possible that Apple could announced said app as an update for iOS 18, but only time will tell.
