Reviews for the Intel Core Ultra 200S Series are just hours away from being published, yet someone in the UK has decidedly broken the unveiling date with the sale of a Core Ultra 7 265K on eBay. Specifically, someone by the handle crywolfi is selling the alleged CPU for £450 (~RM2,537).
That’s a little steep for a Core Ultra 7 265K, given that Intel is offering the CPU for an SRP of US$394 (~RM1,713). That being said, one reason the individual is selling the CPU at a higher than average price is because they know that there are other individuals in the DIY PC community that may wish to get their hands on Intel’s latest 3nm Arrow Lake desktop processor a little early.
While we understand the desire to get ahead of the crowd, paying above the average or SRP wouldn’t be beneficial. For starters, even if one were to obtain the CPU, it requires an entirely new motherboard – the CPU is based on a new LGA1815 chipset and is therefore incompatible with the current LGA1700 chipsets, used with 12th Gen, 13th Gen, and 14th Gen Intel chipsets.
Second, eBay, wherever it is operating, isn’t exactly the safest online marketplace. There are reports, even subreddits about scammers on the platform, and one should do their due diligence and not blindly purchase something from some random buyer. Remember: if it’s too good to be true, then it probably is.
