Capcom has announced the open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds, coming 1 November. Being available on the PS5, with PS Plus subscribers getting an earlier window to go with it, naturally PlayStation has made an announcement of their own. But perhaps the more interesting thing about this announcement is the fact that there will be a special edition DualSense controller for the game.
As you’d expect from special edition controllers, the Monster Hunter Wilds edition of the DualSense is a looker. At a glance, it’s obvious that there’s no effort taken here to colour the controller differently, with the Volcanic Red version of the controller being used as the base instead. Not that it’s a bad thing, as the very ornate print on the grips, as well as the new stylised logo on the touch pad really sells it.
All that being said though, while this Monster Hunter Wilds edition of the DualSense is very pretty, it does come with an asking price of RM419. One could argue that more work has gone into beautifying it than, say, the Astro Bot edition, your mileage may vary as to whether it really is RM20 more work. Or indeed RM50 more than the one for God of War Ragnarok from back in 2022.
At any rate, pre-orders for this Monster Hunter Wilds edition DualSense controller starts from 22 November, way after the open beta periods have ended. As to when you’ll be able to find them on shelves, they release at the same time as the game, which is 28 February. These will likely also be limited, so don’t expect them to stay in stock for long.
