Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) recently announced that Max would be expanding to Malaysia and a select few other Asian countries on 19 November 2024. Now, the company has revealed the local pricing information for the Malaysian market ahead of the launch.
Interestingly, the base price for the Standard plan costs the same as HBO GO, the streaming service that it will be replacing in the region, at RM34.90/month. However, you can save money in the long run by opting for the one-year subscription, which costs RM279.90 annually. This plan offers you simultaneous streaming on two devices including TVs, 1080p resolution, and 30 offline downloads to watch on the go.
Meanwhile, there is also the Ultimate plan that costs either RM52.90/month or RM424.90/year. This plan gets you the ability to stream on four devices at once, 4K UHD resolution, Dolby Atmos, and 100 offline downloads. Max will also offer a cheaper mobile plan that limits streaming to a single mobile device at 720p — this will be available through select providers, but the details have not been revealed yet.
Once Max officially launches here next month, it will replace HBO GO in the app stores. Current GO subscribers will be able to sign into the new streaming service using your HBO GO login details and you will be able to keep your existing plan.
