Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on just about all platforms on 28 February 2025. But before we get there, the publisher is giving would be players a chance for a test run. The game’s open beta is set to start at the very beginning of next month, for both PC and PS5.
The Monster Hunter Wilds open beta starts on 1 November, and ends on 4 November. As part of said open beta, hunters can get access to the character creation process early, allowing you to create your in-game avatar and Palico. The good news is that your creations can be carried over to the full game, and unlike in the full game, here you can redo the process without having to spend money.
As part of the open beta, you can also experience the early bits of the Monster Hunter Wilds story, including the basic tutorial. It would probably be a good idea to do so to get used to the new Focus Mode before heading for a real hunt. And on that note, the real hunt that the open beta gives players access to is the Doshaguma, as shown from the game’s earliest trailers. These parts of the demo also opens up the multiplayer portion of the game. Otherwise, you get three NPC hunters to help you out.
Taking part in the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta will also award you with a Palico Teddy pendant that you can hang off your weapon once you buy the full game. Otherwise, it would be a cosmetic you can buy for cash as DLC.
To reiterate, the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta starts on 1 November and ends on 4 November on both Steam and PS5. If you’re on the latter and have an active PS Plus subscription, you get an additional window of between 29 and 31 October, with all of the benefits mentioned above. Capcom says that the beta needs at least 29GB of space.
