Earlier in the week, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile chipset was unveiled to the world, with many phone makers being mentioned as part of the initial rollout of the chip. With ASUS among them, it’s no real surprise to see that the company sharing a date on which to announce its upcoming ROG Phone 9.
From its dedicated page on the official website, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 is noted to be a series, but it’s unclear if the additional models will be called the Pro or Ultimate, or indeed something else. On the flip side, what is clear is that the phone will be continuing the more mainstream look that was introduced in the previous generation. To wit, it sports the same restrained look with an almost identical camera island at the back.
There also seems to be only slight changes to the way it deals with lighting effects at the back of the ASUS ROG Phone 9. The logo of the brand’s gaming arm does not appear to be lit, but there is the the ROG text in a dot matrix-esque font, on what looks like the brand’s sort-of signature AniMe Matrix Display. Again, it’s uncertain for now of this applies to the base or additional models of the phone.
What is certain though is that everything there is to know about the ROG Phone 9 will be revealed come 19 November. The launch event is noted to be starting at 7PM Taipei time, with which we share a timezone.
