Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has previously claimed that Apple will be releasing its M4 refresh of a list of Mac hardware in October. This was supposed to include “new iPad models” as well, but then the bitten fruit brand quietly announced the iPad mini 7. Despite this, Gurman still says that the launch is still expected to go ahead.
On Threads, Gurman says the launch of the M4 Mac range refresh won’t be as grand in scale as an iPhone launch. Instead, it will be a mostly online thing, drawing comparisons to last year’s Scary Fast event. For us on this side of the globe, there’s no obvious difference between the two events. But according to 9to5Mac, this means no in-person watch-party of the launch at Apple Park.
The report also notes that the Scary Fast event last year had its date officially announced at the start of the last week of October, with the event happening at the end of the week. This would line up with Gurman’s claim of the M4 Mac refresh being available on 1 November, timezone differences notwithstanding.
All that being said, there’s no telling when will Apple actually announce the dates for its M4 Mac refresh launch event, or when it will actually happen. Should the brand be following last year’s schedule, we’ll probably hear more later this week.
