The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has been much rumoured for the past few months, with its availability noted to be limited to China and South Korea. We haven’t seen it appearing in the former yet, at least at the time of writing, but we do see it making an appearance in its home market.
From the listing, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will come in only one configuration, with 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage. The chipset was identified as the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy that has appeared in the brand’s phones earlier in the year. The battery is rated at 4,400 mAh, but no charging rate was mentioned alongside it.
The spec sheet on the official site lists the screen measurements in millimetres, but the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition are noted to have the main and outer screen sizes of about 8 and 6.5 inches respectively. Looking at the phone’s measurements, it’s not as drastically different to the standard Z Fold6 as initially thought. Measuring 157.9 x 142.6 x 4.9, it’s only slightly larger and thinner in comparison. Oddly, it is noted to also not have S-Pen support.
For its cameras, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has its main shooter upgraded from a 50MP unit to a 200MP one. The rest are the familiar 10MP and 12MP shooters also at the back, while the outer and main screens have the old 10MP and 4MP units respectively. The latter doesn’t look to be hidden under the display this time around though. Naturally, the Samsung Galaxy Fold Special Edition runs Android, and it comes with all the Galaxy AI bells and whistles, as well as Google’s Circle to Search.
As with its single configuration, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition looks to only have one black colourway, and a price of KRW2,789,600 (~RM8,748). In comparison, the top-of-the-lineZ Fold6, with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, is listed at KRW2,388,100 (~RM7,489). It has a release date of 24 October, at least for its home market.
