Insta360 is gearing up to introduce a new action camera soon. The device in question, based on the teaser provided, is very likely the brand’s Ace Pro 2 model that was leaked last month by Igor Bogdanov (aka @Quadro_News).
As per said leak, the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is alleged to feature a design similar to its predecessor, with a front-facing vertical screen and a rear LCD display that can flip up. The camera is reportedly water and shock resistant, able to withstand depths of up to 33 feet and drops from as high as five feet. These rugged specifications indicate durability, making it suitable for various challenging environments.
The Ace Pro 2 is said to house a 1/1.3-inch f/2.6 sensor paired with a Leica Summarit lens, enabling 50MP photo captures and video recording at up to 8K resolution. Powered by a dual AI chip system, it enhances image processing, camera performance, and system functions, while also improving low-light performance and supporting Active HDR video recording at 4K60p.
Additionally, the camera is expected to be microSD compatible, feature Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, and offer swappable batteries. The leaked pricing suggests it will retail for around US$400 (~RM1,658), though it is unclear whether the camera would be offered in more than one configuration.
Insta360 is set to introduce the Ace Pro 2 tomorrow at 9pm local time on 22 October 2024. Whether or not it will also see a simultaneous launch in Malaysia around the same time remains to be seen.
