Prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced the continuation of the My50 Pass subsidy for public transport users in the Klang Valley during the Budget 2025 tabling earlier. This initiative is expected to benefit over 180,000 commuters in the region.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, added that over RM270 million has been allocated for the Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme, which will enhance public transport services in major cities across every state. The budget includes RM10 million for the construction of 47km of special bus lanes along Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Cheras, and Jalan Gombak to improve traffic flow.
Additionally, in a bid to further enhance commuter experiences, 100 bus stops in the Klang Valley will be upgraded through collaboration between government-linked companies (GLCs) and private sector partners. By upgrading transit networks, the government seeks to support sustainable urban development, cut carbon emissions, and improve residents’ quality of life.
Meanwhile, inter-state mobility projects such as the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), Central Spine Road (CSR), and Pan Borneo Highway will be prioritised to boost economic activities. Highways will also be maintained and upgraded to enhance connectivity, trade, tourism, and economic growth.
