Xiaomi’s first ever electric vehicle (EV), the Xiaomi SU7, is now on display at Suria KLCC as part of a roadshow for the brand’s recently launched Xiaomi 14T smartphone series. The showcase is held at the mall’s Centre Court area for a limited time, starting from 16 to 20 October 2024.
However, it should be noted that the EV’s appearance is merely for demonstration purposes, as Xiaomi has not decided to release the SU7 in Malaysia at this time. That said, the company has only brought in the Max variant in left-hand drive configuration, while its infotainment system is mostly in Chinese.
To quickly recap, this variant of the Xiaomi SU7 features all-wheel drive with dual motors, which offers a top speed of 265 km/h, 673 ps of horsepower, and 838 Nm of torque, alongside a range of 800 km on a single charge. A key feature is its large CATL battery, developed using Xiaomi’s own Cell-To-Body (CTB) technology, which integrates the battery into the vehicle’s floor. This design improves structural rigidity and increases cabin space, enhancing overall comfort.
Having attended the roadshow’s launch, we were given the opportunity to take a closer look at the EV and try out some of its HyperOS features. Unfortunately, there’s not much we can actually cover due to time limitations, and a test drive is definitely out of the question.
Xiaomi is offering customers express access to view and experience the SU7 Max when they purchase either variant of the Xiaomi 14T Series during the roadshow. Meanwhile, visitors are also allowed to see the car and its interior up close as well, but required to wait in a queue.
Again, the EV is only on display in Malaysia until Sunday, 20 October. It will then resume its tour to other countries thereafter.
