UPDATE (5:15PM): The official local distributor for Sonos has announced the local prices of both the Arc Ultra and Sub 4. The article has been updated to reflect this.
ORIGINAL STORY (2:02PM):
The Sonos Arc was announced back in 2020, and now the company has an updated model for its top-of-the-line soundbar. The new one is called the Sonos Arc Ultra, and optionally accompanying it is the Sub 4, which the brand calls its “most impressive subwoofer, revamped”.
Improving on the 11-driver setup from the original Arc, the new Sonos Arc Ultra brings this up to 14 drivers, which includes seven tweeters, six midwoofers and a subwoofer. Then there’s the Sound Motion tech to deliver 9.1.4 audio, that you can tune with the Trueplay app on Android and iOS. It also gets Bluetooth audio playback now, in addition to the HDMI eARC.
Moving on to the Sonos Sub 4, this update to the full-size subwoofer that launched with the original Arc soundbar. The company’s press release does not mention specific performance features beyond it having more processing power and memory, as well as “new WiFi radios for better connectivity”. It also features “the same iconic design”, in a matte finish. As with most things by the brand, the soundbar and the subwoofer can be paired with its other products, including the Ace headphones.
Back in August, Sonos said that it was delaying the launch of two products, one of which was then rumoured to be a new Arc soundbar. Now that the Arc Ultra is out, it remains unclear of the Sub 4 is supposed to be the other one. At any rate, the online press release notes that both will be available starting 29 October. The Arc Ultra soundbar will cost US$999 (~RM4,291), while the Sub 4 subwoofer will get a US$799 (~RM3,432) price tag instead.
No local details for either just yet. The official local distributor has shared that the Sonos Arc Ultra and Sub 4 are priced at RM5,899 and RM4,799 respectively.
