Chinese EV brand BYD has brought in a few electric vehicles into the local market, and now the company has an electric MPV to add to the list. This is branded as the BYD M6, and as its MPV designation suggests, it has seven seats split into three rows.
The BYD M6 comes in two variants, dubbed Standard and Extended. Starting with what they share in common, both models are front-wheel drive with a maximum torque of 310 Nm. Beyond that though, their spec sheets differ quite a bit.
With the Standard BYD M6, you get a century sprint speed of 10.1 seconds, NEDC rated range of 420km, a maximum power output of 120 kW, a battery capacity of 55.4 kWh and a DC charging rate of 89 kW. As for the Extended model, 0 – 100 km/h is done in 8.6 seconds, with a maximum range of 530km, a maximum power output of 150 kW, a battery capacity of 71.8 kWh and a DC charging rate of 115 kW. Owing to this, there’s a weight difference between the two as well, being 2,374kg and 2,489kg respectively.
In the announcement, the company says that both models are equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels with 225/55 R17 tyres. Other features of the BYD M6 include support for NFC digital keys, which allows you to use your phone as the keys to the car. Using the app gives you an extended list of other features, like being able turn on the air conditioning remotely.
Other added features with a focus on practicality on the BY M6 include support for reverse charging, or Vehicle-to Load (V2L) as it is called, letting it serve as a mobile power station.he 12.8 inch display inside also supports the ability to take screenshots, as well as USB file transfer.
For their prices, the Standard BYD M6 comes with an asking price of RM109,800, while the Extended model costs RM123,800 instead. You can learn more about these by hitting this link.
