OPPO officially unveiled the all-new Quick Capture button for its upcoming Find X8 flagship smartphone series last week, which functions similarly to the iPhone 16 line-up’s Camera Control. Along with the announcement is a video demonstration of the new button, presented by the company’s Find series product manager Zhou Yibao.
In the video, the Find X8 Pro showcased effortless snapping photos underwater with the new Quick Capture button. The demonstration also highlights the Find X8’s water resistance, which the company claimed before this is rated at IP68/69.
Zhou emphasised that the button is designed for ease of use, simplicity, and aesthetics. As shown, users can double-click to instantly activate the camera, press it to capture a photo, and even zoom in by sliding. It is also revealed that pressing Quick Capture won’t shake the phone, allowing users to snap photos instantly without worrying about blurring.
Official specifications of the Find X8 series is still mostly kept under wraps, but a recent leak suggests that the base model could feature a 6.5-inch display with 1.5k resolution and under-screen fingerprint scanner, a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, Android 15 via ColorOS 15, a battery capacity of 5,700mAh with 80W wired and 50W wireless fast charging, as well as Hasselblad enhanced triple-camera setup on its back. The same leak also mentioned the Quick Capture button, which was described as a “virtual pressure-sensitive button”.
The OPPO Find X8 series, which consists of a vanilla and a Pro model, is believed to be launching in China on 24 October 2024. There’s no word on a potential global launch just yet but for what it’s worth, the base model has already appeared in SIRIM’s database.
