Qualcomm recently shared a teaser video on Weibo, featuring its upcoming Oryon CPU that’s set to power the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 flagship chipset. Interestingly, making a cameo appearance in the clip is what appears to be OnePlus’ yet-to-be-announced next-gen flagship, the OnePlus 13.
The short video shows a vague glimpse of the device’s rear design, which so happens to sport an off-centred circular camera island that’s often featured on recent smartphones from OnePlus. However, what’s different here is the arrangement of the cameras.
Unlike recent OnePlus flagship models, what looks to be the primary camera is now placed in the centre of the island, while two other shooters are visible on the upper left corner and at bottom right. Meanwhile, a periscope module for the telephoto camera is depicted on the bottom left of the island.
Qualcomm’s teaser didn’t reveal much regarding the Oryon CPU nor the upcoming flagship chipset. With the company’s Snapdragon Summit event coming soon on 22 October 2024, we can expect to find more about the new SoC by then.
Perhaps the more significant takeaway from this is the indirect confirmation of the next-gen Snapdragon flagship chip being featured on the OnePlus 13. Based on this, it’s safe to assume that the phone will be among the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
