Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy A16 much earlier than expected, releasing the phone in the European market. Aside from a few upgrades over the A15, the budget-friendly device is also promised six years of Android version updates alongside six years of security patches, starting with Android 14.
The Galaxy A16 sports a 6.7-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 800 nits, as well as an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance. Underneath the chassis, users will find an Exynos 1330 chipset, but it is expected to be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor in other markets, including Malaysia.
On the imaging side, the entry-level smartphone features a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 13MP selfie snapper. Backing it is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W charging. As for connectivity, it supports 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.
The Galaxy A16 comes in three colour options and starts from EUR249 (~RM1,167) for the base 4GB+128GB trim. It is unknown when exactly the phone will arrive here, but we can expect an announcement soon as the A16 has already received SIRIM certification.
