The Proton e.MAS 7 is set for its official launch this December, but eager customers can already book the new electric vehicle (EV) through EON’s website. The company is one of Proton’s major dealers with 10 locations across Malaysia, with its Glenmarie and Damansara branches designated as official Proton e.MAS dealerships.
As stated on EON’s e.MAS 7 page on its website, booking will cost you a deposit of RM500. However, it is unclear whether this fee is refundable, should you decide to cancel it at a later time. Alternatively, you could also register your interest via the same web page in order to get updates and other information regarding the e.MAS 7.
As announced by Proton prior to this, the brand’s first EV is set to debut sometime in December 2024. Ahead of its launch, the company is currently touring the vehicle at different locations in Malaysia, offering potential buyers an opportunity to preview the vehicle. One of the notable stops on this tour will be EON Glenmarie, where the vehicle is set to be showcased on 27 October, though those interested are required to RSVP for the preview session.
To quickly recap, the e.MAS 7 is co-developed by Proton and Geely, and many of its specifications appear to align with those of the Galaxy E5. Although the former hasn’t confirmed the power output of its model, the EV should boast performance that’s on par to its Geely counterpart, as both feature a similar drivetrain.
For reference, the Galaxy E5 features a front-mounted electric motor capable of 218PS (160 kW) and 320Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. Geely offers two variants of the EV: one with a 49.52kWh battery that provides ranges of up to 440km, while the other is capable of reaching up to 530km via its larger 60.22kWh battery capacity. However, do note that both range estimates are based on the based on the CLTC testing standard and not WLTP.
Other than that, the e.MAS 7’s counterpart comes a 10.2-inch driver’s instrument panel, a heads up display, a central 15.4-inch floating infotainment touchscreen, and up to 16 speakers, just to name a few. Whether or not Proton’s own EV will actually feature these remains to be seen. For that, we’ll have to wait until December to find out more about the e.MAS 7.
