Samsung’s recent update for older Galaxy devices, particularly the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series, has been causing them to become inoperable. Users have taken to social media to share their experiences of being stuck in bootloops after installing this update.
It stems from a faulty update related to Samsung’s SmartThings Framework, rather than a complete system update. Users have been unable to access their devices fully, preventing them from rolling back the update through standard software methods. The only viable solution is a factory reset, which results in a complete loss of any stored data.
To factory reset, users must enter recovery mode by powering off their devices and then pressing a specific combination of buttons – Bixby or home button and volume up for the Galaxy S10, and volume up and power button for the Note 10. Once in recovery mode, users have to wipe off the data, reset their devices, and reboot the whole system.
In response to these issues, Samsung has halted the update rollout completely. Users are advised to disable automatic updates via the Galaxy Store and back up any important data if their devices are still functioning properly.
