Palworld is most recently making the news because its maker Pocketpair got hit by a patent infringement lawsuit by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. But that’s not stopping the game from making it to more platforms it looks like. At some point in the future, it will also be making its way to mobile devices.
The endeavour is being carried out by the company behind PUBG, Krafton. Or more specifically, the PUBG Studios under it. In a Korean press release, the company announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Pocketpair to “faithfully reinterpret and implement”, per machine translation, the game’s mechanics to fit the mobile environment.
While being a mobile port, it’s probably safe to think that there will be some tweaks to the Palworld formula once Krafton completes its mobile version. If the difference between the original PUBG and its mobile experience is any indication, anyway. Of course, it remains to be seen if it’s a game that can be faithfully ported to begin with.
Probably the most interesting thing about this bit of news is that Krafton is undeterred by the lawsuit that Palworld has been hit by. On the subject of ports, the game has also recently made its way to the PS5, except for in Japan, for reasons that may or may not have to do with said lawsuit.
